「Cannot recommend Kayla’s Pretty Paws enough! Sidney was super sweet and amazing with my Powderpuff Chinese Crested, Dahlia. She’s a nervous girl and Sidney was so kind to her and me as the anxious dog mom. When I came to pick Dahlia up she was happy, ran right up to me, and seemed less stressed then when she arrived. Sidney was even able to accommodate my request of putting some purple dye on her paws and topknot! Dahlia truly came home with pretty paws. The first photos are after her groom and the last was before.」
「This place! ❤️ I brought my cat that HATES getting her nails done – HATES IT. I tried Kayla's for the first time to try some place new, and I was NOT disappointed! Kayla was so caring and understanding with my cat's fear. She took such good care of her! And, it was super quick! Best thing of all: My cat who usually hates me after a groom, did not hate me when we got home. I already rebooked!」
「TL;DR: Poor customer service, dismissive communication, and inconsistent standards. I’d rather commute back to Brooklyn—where veterans of color and their pets are actually valued—than deal with this again. I used Kayla’s grooming services before for my two miniature golden doodles, and when I moved back to the area, I figured I’d return to a place I had previously trusted. After enough frustrating experiences at PetSmart, I decided I’d rather spend extra for consistency, quality care, and to support a fellow veteran-owned small business. Unfortunately, this experience was anything but that. When I called, the person who answered seemed dismissive from the start. I explained who I was and mentioned my one prior visit about a year and a half ago. She asked for my availability, and I told her I was flexible—whenever they had space. She seemed irritated that I didn’t use their online portal, but with two dogs, it’s often easier to coordinate schedules over the phone. I was upfront about my dogs being a bit fluffier than usual and possibly matted due to a hectic winter, a move, and being a college veteran student managing limited funds. I made it clear I was completely fine with a low cut. That’s when the conversation took a turn. She immediately told me they would not be seen due to matting. On top of that, she claimed that during their last visit—over a year and a half ago—my dogs were “problematic.” This was the first time I had ever heard that. When I picked them up back in 2024, I distinctly remember Kayla speaking positively about their behavior. If there were concerns, why weren’t they communicated then? And more importantly, why ask for my availability at all if you had already decided not to service my dogs? The inconsistency and lack of transparency were frustrating. On top of that, the phone rang endlessly before being answered, and my first call was actually disconnected, forcing me to call back just to speak with someone. For a business that prides itself on quality service, the customer experience felt like an afterthought. I work hard for my money and for my dogs, and I choose to spend it at places that respect both. Choosing to bring your pet here feels like a gamble—you may get great grooming, but you may not get basic respect or clear communication. Lastly, during my first visit, I wasn’t aware they offered a veterans discount. When I mentioned that I was a 14-year Army Special Operations veteran, there was no effort made to acknowledge or adjust the pricing. At the end of the day, I’d rather take my time and money back to Brooklyn, where I know veterans of color—and their pets—are treated with the respect and value they deserve.」
「I brought my Pomeranian male in who was a mess with mats and lots of hair chaos. Kayla explained to me what she had to do to get this almost 16 year Pomeranian cleaned up and on a plan. Honestly I was concerned he would have to be shaved but she promised she would do what she could and send me some pics along the way. Well, it was an excellent job (I also brought in my almost 14 year old female Pom and she did a great job on her also!) Kayla is upfront and honest about the process and had the dogs' health and well being as her primary consideration. Thanks to the staff and we will be returning to keep them on a schedule from now on. (Pics before and after)」
「I would not take my dogs anywhere else. She's an awesome groomer. She takes care of all my six fur babies. I've got a hard to handle dog and she been working with her and there is an amazing change in my baby dog. If I could I'd give her 10 stars I would but they would only allow 5. She's awesome」
